Turns Firefly into a modular shelter system. Same waterproof, SPF 70+ Miranda textile as the canopy; each 18' x 12' x 7' trapezoidal panel Velcros to the perimeter and adds 110 sq ft of coverage per side. Deploy one or several, on or off the vehicle, angled down for semi-enclosed cover or flared out to widen the footprint. Three vertical support poles are required per sidewall when deployed in the horizontal configuration. Because support pole needs vary by configuration, we recommend sourcing the appropriate quantities through our recommended third-party link here.
Whether you’re setting up at the beach, in the park, at basecamp, or anywhere in between, Firefly easily transitions into a freestanding shelter system using our heavy-duty 2.5" x 22" galvanized ground auger. The cantilever frame is fully self-supporting in mild to light wind, while recommended support poles add extra stability when needed and are required for tent sidewall configurations. Because support pole needs vary by configuration, we recommend sourcing the appropriate quantities through our recommended third-party link here.

Questions, answered
HUMBRA Firefly attaches to vehicles equipped with a standard 2" receiver hitch, with proper functionality dependent on rear vehicle geometry and roofline clearance. The system is compatible with most trucks, SUVs, utility vehicles, camper shells, and select low-profile rack systems, provided that there is no impediment approximately 6" above the truck roofline. Taller vans, RVs, and other vertical rear profiles that exceed this clearance are not compatible, as they prevent full canopy deployment and 360° rotation.
The telescoping mast secures to the hitch-mounted base with a single locking pin, which is all that is needed for most standard use cases.
For additional securement based on your setup, vehicle geometry, or conditions, the canopy features five reinforced aluminum eyelets at the end of each rib. These anchor points pair seamlessly with premium aftermarket suction mounts such as SeaSucker, along with straps or other tie-down methods, allowing users to further stabilize and position the canopy as needed.
This modular approach gives you a fast, vehicle-integrated shade system with flexible attachment options and no permanent modifications required.
Most pickup trucks and standard SUVs do not require an extension. The distance from the hitch pin to the leading edge of the canopy shaft is 24”. Please measure accordingly to determine if your vehicle requires an extension.
Certain vehicles with larger or rear-swinging cargo doors will require an extension to ensure full articulation:
- Large SUVs (e.g., Toyota 4Runner, Chevy Suburban): 7" extension recommended
- Vehicles with horizontal swing gates (e.g., Jeep Wrangler): 12" extension recommended
- Larger swing-gate vehicles (e.g., Ford Bronco): 18" extension recommended
To confirm your fit, measure from the center of your hitch pin to the farthest point of your open rear door. This will help determine what extension is necessary for full canopy function and door clearance.
The Firefly canopy folds down to a compact 60" x 15" x 10" and weighs 36 lbs, including the telescopic mast. The hitch component is a detachable aluminum assembly, measuring 29" x 16" x 2" and weighing only 7 lbs.
Yes—thanks to its built-in adjustability, the Firefly is designed to accommodate most camper shells. The system offers 5.5” of vertical adjustment, helping it clear taller setups. When deployed, the distance from the top of the horizontal hitch tube to the umbrella's shuttle plate is 56”, and to the canopy’s outer edge is 60”. With the added adjustment, you can extend these measurements by up to 5.5” as needed. We recommend measuring your vehicle setup to ensure proper clearance.
The Firefly is designed for simple, straightforward setup and can generally be installed by one person. However, depending on individual strength or experience, mounting the canopy into the hitch may require two adults for ease and safety. We recommend ensuring the surrounding area is clear of people and obstacles during installation to prevent injury or damage
Yes. When properly secured, Firefly has been successfully tested in wind speeds exceeding 35 mph.
Because Firefly provides a large 95 - 120 sq ft shade footprint, wind performance depends heavily on how the system is deployed, the direction of the canopy relative to the wind, and whether sudden uplift or desert-style updraft conditions are present.
For best stability in windy or unpredictable environments, always deploy with all anchor points engaged, including:
- the hitch mounted base
- strong suction cups or tie-down points secured to the cab, roof, bed or window
- tie downs from the aluminum eyelets on the support arms using paracord, straps, and/or carabiner hardware to a secure anchor
Removing the canopy extensions and positioning the canopy over the truck bed facing with the wind, rather than broadside to it, significantly improves stability and reduces uplift forces.
As with any large cantilever canopy or parasol system, sudden directional gusts and updrafts can place substantial force into the frame if the canopy is not fully secured. In unpredictable environments such as desert terrain, beaches, ridgelines, and exposed work zones, additional tie down points are strongly recommended.
For best results, always use your judgment based on local conditions and secure the canopy accordingly.
Yes; every component of the Firefly is designed with longevity and serviceability in mind. Unlike traditional umbrellas or awnings that use permanent rivets, the Firefly features bolted connection points throughout its structure, including on the canopy ribs. This makes it easy to remove and replace any part, whether it's a rib, hinge, mast section, or mounting component.
For example, if a rib is damaged, it can be detached by simply removing two bolts; no special tools or technical expertise required. Just reach out to us and we’ll provide the replacement part at cost. Our goal is to keep your Firefly in the field, not in the garage. This modular design ensures you're investing in a product that’s not only durable but also fully serviceable for years of reliable use.
The Firefly is constructed from high-performance materials chosen for their strength, durability, and resistance to the elements. Its frame is built from aircraft-grade aluminum, offering a lightweight yet exceptionally rigid structure that stands up to regular outdoor use. The canopy itself is made from 100% premium, solution-dyed polyacrylic fabric—designed to resist fading, water, and UV damage even after prolonged sun exposure.
All hardware components, including fasteners and connection points, are crafted from 308 and 316 stainless steel, ensuring excellent resistance to rust and corrosion in coastal, wet, or high-humidity environments. Every material on the Firefly has been selected with long-term outdoor performance in mind, making it a dependable companion for both recreational adventures and demanding commercial applications.
The Firefly system is only sold as a complete unit and not as individual components. However, if you’ve already purchased a Firefly and need a replacement part, we’re happy to assist with that, just reach out and we’ll help get you what you need.
Yes. The Firefly canopy is constructed from premium polyacrylic fabric and is fully waterproof. To achieve this, the underside of the fabric is finished with two coats of polyurethane, creating a durable moisture barrier while maintaining the premium look and feel of the textile.
At 295 +/- 15 g/m², this is a dense, high-performance fabric engineered for long-term outdoor use. In addition to being waterproof, it also offers excellent UPF 70+ protection, and can be replaced when needed.
Yes, the Firefly’s canopy textile is fully removable and replaceable. It's secured with five socket head screws (one at the end of each rib) and five clips at the top of the mast.
To remove the fabric:
- Partially open the frame to the “half-cock” position.
- Unscrew the socket head bolts.
- Close the umbrella to relieve tension on the textile.
- Unclip the fabric from the top plate.
- Gently peel the textile upward to remove.
To reinstall, simply reverse the process.
Firefly is compatible with select low-roof vans, such as the Ford Transit Low Roof, where sufficient clearance exists between the canopy and the vehicle roofline.
It is not compatible with high-roof vans, including models like the Mercedes Sprinter, as the increased height prevents proper canopy deployment and full articulation.

Warranty
At Humbra, we stand behind the durability and quality of our products.
The Firefly hitch is covered by a limited lifetime warranty, ensuring it will not crack, bend, or break under normal use. Its robust, rust-free aluminum construction is designed to withstand long-term use in both commercial and recreational environments.
The Firefly canopy system, including its structural frame and textile components, is backed by a one-year limited warranty covering defects in materials or workmanship under normal use conditions.
Because Firefly is designed with replaceable parts and straightforward maintenance in mind, we encourage owners to periodically inspect and tighten fasteners, especially in high-use environments, to maintain optimal performance. If a component fails due to a manufacturing defect during the warranty period, we will provide a replacement part at no cost. After the warranty period, we'll continue to support your system by offering replacement parts and practical service solutions whenever possible.
Please note that damage resulting from improper use, accidental damage, severe weather, high winds, or failure to properly secure the canopy is not covered under warranty. As with any canopy system, environmental conditions should always be assessed before deployment.

30-Day Returns
If you're not completely satisfied with your purchase, you may return your Firefly within 30 days of delivery.
Once the system has been received and inspected, we'll process your refund based on its condition.
New, unused condition: If the system is returned complete, in like-new condition, and can be resold as new, a full refund will be issued less a $40 re-kitting and restocking fee.
Used condition: If the system shows signs of installation, use, wear, missing components, or damage, it will be classified as a used product. The refund will be adjusted accordingly based on the condition of the returned system and its resale value.
Return shipping: Customers are responsible for return shipping costs unless the return is the result of a warranty claim or our error.
Please contact us before returning your Firefly so we can provide return instructions and ensure the system is packaged properly for transit. Original shipping charges (if applicable) are non-refundable.
